Re: Need help with Super Combat restoration

Thanks! I see you’re an OSSA fan. I recently started the refurbishment of a 72 Pioneer for a friend until we realized it just wasn’t worth the effort and money it was going to cost. Turns out he had been totally and completely screwed by Kaplan Cycles. There wasn’t a decent part on the entire bike. ...

Re: Need help with Super Combat restoration

The Super Combat is done. Just in case anybody gave a crap about it. I tore it down again, to the bare frame, and repainted the frame with a blue color that I came up with just by guessing. I think it turned okay. Without an original bike to compare it to, I just picked out a blue that I liked and u...

Re: Correct Routing For Ace Clutch Cable

As I remember it routes under the tank on the right side by the mounting bolt. Many people that restore have it wrong and the position of the shift lever also. ------------------Clarence I realize this is a very old post, but I’m wondering about the “position of the shift lever” mentioned here. I’m...

Re: Need help with Super Combat restoration

Thank you! I had them painted silver like the foot pegs. I must have used a gallon of silver paint last time!

Re: Need help with Super Combat restoration

Thanks, guys. You’ve given me some things to think about now. I can rezinc my own hardware, so no need to send it out, and I have a tumbler, but not nearly large enough to do hubs, cases, etc. and I don’t have the correct media for that either. I think I’m going to look for someone that can do this ...

Re: Need help with Super Combat restoration

Thanks for the reply. I’m already working up a parts list for Hodakaparts.com, so adding some hardware won’t make much difference. Fortunately, all of the expensive stuff, tank, seat, pipe, etc. is in good shape. Do the factory bolts have any kind of marking on them that would make them different th...

Need help with Super Combat restoration

Hey guys! I’ll try to make a long story short. I have a Super Combat that I restored about 20 years ago. It’s been sitting in my basement game room since that time. I’ve decided to take it down to the bare frame and restore it correctly this time.It was basically the first bike I ever restored, and ...
