Re: New fuel petcocks

All is good. I ended up using the old fiber washers & a bit of sealant and it worked fantastic.

Re: New fuel petcocks

Thanks for the tips Matt. I figured that putting more washers on would do the trick. As far as turning them to the inside, I used to do that to the bikes when I raced motocross back in the mid 70's. I too like my sockets arranged as you do !!! The weird thing is the old petcocks screw right in the c...

Is there a special trick to threading the new petcocks I bought into the tank so that they line up with the shut off valve facing out when they are tightened ? I can't seem to make them face out, only in when I screw them into the tank. With the first set I bought having the wrong threads & now th...

Re: wombat 94A tank petcocks

I got a call from Terry last night & he confirmed that the petcocks don't fit. He also said that a small batch of reproduction petcocks were not correct as far as the threaded part goes.He is sending me the correct ones & not even charging me shipping for something that is really not his pro...

Re: wombat 94A tank petcocks

Matt, They probably came from the same lot I would think. Glad you got yours figured out. If Terry can't help me maybe I could send mine to you & have you chase the threads.

Re: wombat 94A tank petcocks

So I got side tracked for a while on the petcock problem.I tried freezing the petcocks & heating the tank in the hot sun. Still don't fit. I got out my digital caliper & checked the diameter of the threads old verses the new petcocks. Old petcock thread diameter is 9.45 mm diameter.New petco...

Re: 94 Wombat tuning help needed

I like the Honda Elsinore shocks on the Hodaka in your picture. I have a set on mine with the top mount in the forward location as well.I modified mine with shock shafts from the 250 Elsinore which are 1/2" in diameter verses 7/16" on the first year 125 Elsinore.

Re: wombat 94A tank petcocks

Thanks Paul, I will try again today . The threads on the petcocks look fine, they just seem to not want to start.Should there be a gasket for where the petcock base meets the tank outlet. On my old ones I used some red silicone to help seal the mating surfaces.

wombat 94A tank petcocks

So I bought 2 new petcocks for my 1973 wombat from strictly hodaka. The new and improved ones.I took the old ones out & tried to screw the new ones in and I can't get them to thread into the tank. The old ones thread right in and out & don't look cross threaded. The threads on the new ones lo...

Re: wombat carb specs

I was just thinking of something pertaining to my Hodaka. When I holed the 2nd piston I took it to a supposedly Hodaka guru. Maybe he put the 180 main in it & that is why I have a 240 in the tool kit. I do Know that he changed the piston from the one rectangular window to the one with a rectangl...

Re: wombat carb specs

The carb is a flange mount & I found the specs for stock jetting. Mine matches stock except stock main is 190 & mine is 180. It also now has the 4 hole piston for the reed valve & a 3 window opening on the intake.I'm cleaning it up & getting ready to sell it. Just ordered new petcock...

Re: wombat carb specs

yea I have looked into the archives & I did find the specs once, but have failed to find them again. I have found posts about main jets & they are quite confusing. Anywhere from 350 to 130 for the main jet. That's a pretty big spread !!

wombat carb specs

Can someone please post the stock settings on a 28mm mikuni carb for my wombat that has the enduro/cross kit on it ? When I got the bike many years ago it holed a piston. When I took it apart it had the piston with a single window near the top. I replaced it with a piston with 4 holes in it as per t...
